Looks like TS Andrea will not be an issue for you. S winds expected most of the way should make for a pleasant passage.

Andrea is gone. Atlantic Hi continues in your favor. CF move offshore Tue. Expect S to SW10-15 Sun-Mon; SW15-25 Tue-Thu; possible SW30 near Hatteras Fri. Depression in Gulf but low expectation of development.

Just a note to readers... some short hand explanations:

wx = weather
CF = Cold Front
HP = high pressure
Hi = high pressure system
BDA = Bermuda
GS or G.S. = Gulf Stream
TS = tropical storm

Feel free to ask questions!

No sig change except Thu Low inland at 45N and another passing offshore near 38N. Expect continued S15-20 veering to SW20-25 Thu and SW30 Fri. No tropicals. Keeping S as you are appears good strategy in view of wind predictions.

Tom - Thanks for wx. Mostly what we already thought. Today Herb essentially said same, with different emphasis. Thinks lo forming in Chesapeake Wed (one you spoke of @ 38?) may be reason enough to go to Beaufort instead, avoiding Hatteras area altogether, which he thinks will be pretty messy. Your thoughts? informed by most recent information? Could wait Beaufort, or come up inside. Seem advisable?

Q 2 - in passageweather.com, before we left, GS prediction showed unusual NW turn of GS ~ 34 x 73 20, heading straight for Ches for ~ 100 m. Still showing that?

Now Sun 1900 hrs, 32 49 x 69 46. J

GS flows E between 34N & 34.5N and from 76W to 73.5W then turns N. Low forecast to pass offshore near 38N late Thu. Expect Mon S10; Tue SW20 maybe 25; Wed W15 assuming you've rounded Hatteras. Looks to me like you will be S of the worst of the Low, and rounding Hatteras looks reasonable. Beaufort may be a challenge with SW20 against the lee shore.

Thanks for updated wx. Got Herb yesterday, but couldn't today. Based on info, will punch across GS Tue, expecting sloppy but manageable going. Very pleasant sailing at moment, in southerly 15 kts. @ 1730 Mon pos 32 22 x 72 12. Crew in good spirits - life is good. J
